We spent last Saturday afternoon snowshoeing the Tamanawas Falls Trail. This is a favorite trail for our family in the summer – an easy 3.4 mile out and back but this was the first time we’ve braved it in the snow.
It’s pretty well traveled during the hot summer months but I was surprised to find the parking lot full this time of year. It was a little harrowing passing other snowshoers {and dogs!} given the narrow trail and steep drop offs but the kids were troopers and powered through. And the frozen falls proved well worth the adrenaline rush.
I was most nervous crossing back over the bridge at the trailhead while my crew found my extreme cautionary technique amusing. And for the record, those rapids look way bigger from above. I swear they were Class V:
